Why I Made Unvarnished
It started in a Facebook comment section.
I was scrolling one evening, reading what people were saying about Lethbridge, and it was brutal. Dangerous, dying, not worth a trip downtown. None of it matched the place I knew. Downtown has its problems, like any city, but I've never felt unsafe in it.

What We Miss
Many of us don't know much about our own city. We drive past notable places every day without realizing it, and when something goes wrong, we blame each other instead of working together. Where knowledge is missing, the loudest voices fill the gap.
Ground Level
So I started filming. Unvarnished: Lethbridge is a documentary series that shows the city as it is, shot at street level with no drones. People don't naturally see the world from 500 feet up. They see it from the sidewalk, which is where we miss the most, buried in our phones or rushing between errands.
Help Finish It
Unvarnished is self-funded so far, and finishing all four episodes takes more than I can cover alone. When they're done, I plan to give them to the places they feature, like the Galt Museum and the University of Lethbridge, to use however serves them best. If you'd like to help get them there, you can back the project here: [link].
Start Here
Episode 1, "The Grid, Beginnings," explores the downtown core: (Link below). If you'd like to meet the person behind the camera first, I filmed a short video walking the coulee about why I'm doing this. Episode 2 arrives October 26.
I'm not here to tell you Lethbridge is perfect. I'm here to show you it's worth knowing.
